- The gown, 1 to 2 weeks out. If it needs pressing and steaming rather than a full clean, this is close enough to the date that travel and storage haven’t had time to re-crease it, but far enough out that there’s no rush if something needs a second pass.
- The groom’s suit, similar timing. A suit that’s been hanging since it was bought usually needs a press before it’s photographed all day. Bring it in alongside the gown if you can, it’s one less thing to remember separately.
- Bridesmaid and bridal party dresses, whenever they’re finalized. These often come from different stores at different times, so there’s no single date that works for all of them, just get each one in as soon as it’s in hand.
What to bring in now versus what to leave for the day
Pressing and steaming can happen well ahead of the ceremony, that’s what makes the timeline above work. Stain removal is different: if something happens to the dress or suit during the rehearsal dinner or in the days right before, that’s worth bringing in immediately rather than waiting, since fresh stains come out far more reliably than ones that have had time to set.
